Green Tourism

We are proud to be working with Green Tourism Scotland, and even prouder of our award status which recognises our work towards minimising our impact on the environment. Our aim is to work closely with Green Tourism Scotland in pushing our business forward in reducing any negative impact it may have on the environment.

Our Environmental Policy

Kate's recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business and operating methods.

Suppliers & Purchasing

At Kate's we use as much local produce as possible and we aim to buy environmentally and socially responsible products. Based in the heart of Aberdeenshire we try to ensure that our produce is sourced with-in a 50 mile radius, using local berries from Oldmeldrum when in season, fish from Peterhead and beef from Inverurie. Where possible we use Fair Trade products. We try to ensure we only use suppliers who behave in a similar way ensuring environmental responsibilities are met from delivery to service.

Energy

Kate's seek to reduce the amount of energy used as much as possible. Lights and other electrical equipment are always turned off when not in use. The energy consumption and efficiency of new products is always taken into account before purchasing. We will always take measures to reduce the consumption of energy and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases our business and its operations produces.

Recycling

Kate's aims to minimise packaging as much as possible. We always seek to buy recycled and recyclable packaging products. We reuse and recycle all paper where possible. We try our hardest not to use one use disposable plastic products, replacing with a recyclable product at every opportunity.

Transport

Kate's will always reduce the need to travel, restricting to necessary trips only. Kate's is committed to replacing all of its fleet vans to hybrid or electric vans with in the next 2 years, reducing our carbon footprint even further. We also encourage emails or conference calls when it comes to meetings reducing the need to travel.

Waste

Kate's uses cleaning materials that are as environmentally friendly as possible. We only use the appropriate licenced organisations to dispose of all waste. We work hard to avoid or reduce any amount of waste produce (food and non-food). We aim to minimise the risk of pollutants disposal to water, minimising or avoiding when possible the use of hazardous substances.
